You Don’t Have to Be a Technical to Register a Domain Name

By Rana Shahbaz 1

In this blog post, I am going to introduce you how to register a right domain name.

Before you register domain name I highly recommend you doing good keyword research.

Let’s start!

Domain name is the address of your business on the internet e.g. www.yourcompany.com. Domain name also known as the URL which stands for uniform resource locator.

In simple terms it is a piece of real estate on the internet.

Good thing is that domain names are not expensive like a normal real estate. Domain names normally cost around $10 for a year.

To really succeed on the internet you really need to own your domain name. There are services available that provide free sub domains which I do not recommend because that is owned by service providers not you.

There are quite a few extensions available like .co.uk, .net, .info, .org but I recommend .com or .co extensions simply because search engines prefer these domains in their results.

How to Register a Domain Name

Step 1: Go to Godaddy and search for the required domain name. Make sure you have your niche keyword in the domain.

Just in case required name is not available try some different combination e.g. If you want johnsmith.com and it has been taken someone try johnsmithuk.com or johnsmithblog.com etc.

Domain Name

Step 2: Once you found out the available domain name go ahead and register it as soon as possible because there is no guarantee that if you will come back tomorrow that name will be available.

Registering domain name with Godaddy is really easy and you just follow the on screen instructions. Godaddy is master of selling extra stuff therefore make sure you buy only domain name nothing else to start with.

You do not need any extras when you starting out.

I hope this will help you taking your first step toward your online business or blog.
